During our last summer vacation I thought about starting a journal. I always wanted to share who we are, the ins and outs of our design studio and our philosophy. It seems like such a difficult task since I'm not good at writing but I’m going to give it a try and share it with you. I’m not going to start with a presentation of us... but our last vacation of August 2019 In Assateague Island
Assateague Island is a place we try to go every year. However, due to weather conditions we couldn't make it last year and we were looking forward to spend this summer's short vacation, camping and kayaking in this beautiful place. Connecting with nature is always a boost in our creative process and we needed this time to relax, recharge and enjoy the beach and the ocean.
I spent sometime doing one of my favorite things, observing the natural form, textures, the beautiful colors… I can spend hours picking up just whatever catches my attention. I only take home a few pieces that have a detail, a pattern, or color that I can add to my little collection of natural treasures.
Naturally formed patterns have always intrigued me, amazed me. The way form is created through the interaction of two or multiple forces, energies or media.. A pattern is a constant process created by the interaction of pressure, grow, fluidity, wind, water, sand... That's what I love about nature pattern, they are in constant movement.
Every time we stay at Assateague Island we head to the bay side and pick mussels for dinner, we enjoy the sunsets, the fire pit, and the ocean. Spending a few days camping in the beach is one of our summer pleasures.
Now we are back at the studio, working for the upcoming shows and the busy season....see you soon!
